Personal taste can slow or kill home sales.
We say in the real estate business: leave your personal taste out of remodels and go vanilla (neutral).
Personal taste is just that: personal. You may enjoy and think it is beautiful and wonderful. But to someone else who doesn’t find it attractive, it is a headache that will cost time and money on top of all the costs of buying a home to make the necessary changes.
Vanilla tastes will capture a much wider buyer pool (that is why so many remodels have the same boring color scheme and look) than something like this where it can be polarizing. This is also why Model Homes of Home Builders also have very neutral and vanilla looks to them.
Why take that chance, especially when the market is shifting. You want to attract as many buyers as possible and avoid anything which will cause a buyer to move onto the next house……..
